Students will…

  • use a Hyperdoc to learn & research simple machines culminating in a Soundtrap audio presentation, explaining the simple machine’s features and functionality. 
Upper Elementary
Activity/Project
  1. Introduce Soundtrap, Teach functionality of Soundtrap platform, including sharing capabilities.
  2. Allow for time for exploration of the platform.
  3. Provide students the Simple Machines hyperdoc document. Students will begin to work through the areas of the hyperdoc. 
  4. Students will then begin recording podcasts about Simple Machines using Soundtrap, reviewing functionality as necessary in small groups or individually. 
  5. Reflect, revise, share and celebrate via social media and/or your school/class website. 
Extended Learning
  1. Students can use the pre-recorded loops from the library as intro/outro/transition music. 

 

The author of this is Meredith Allen. Prior to joining the Soundtrap team, Meredith served as an Instructional Technology Consultant at Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency in Iowa.  Preceding her consulting, Meredith taught instrumental music, K-7 technology and facilitated a district’s Virtual Reality Education Pathfinders program. She also served on their District Leadership Team, served as the district’s Technology Integrationist, and assisted with implementation of the district’s 1:1 computing initiative.Meredith has a Master’s of Science in Technology for Education and Training and participated in the 2016 Iowa cohort of the national Teacher Leadership Initiative.
