Composition Project

• NCAS Creating Anchor Standard 1 – Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work.
• NCAS Creating Anchor Standard 2 – Organize and develop artistic ideas and work.
• NCAS Creating Anchor Standard 3 – Refine and complete artistic work.

• Compose a piece of music in relation to an inspiration by effectively producing sounds together in a digital audio workstation.

1. In groups of three you will compose a piece of music. 
2. Each person in the group is responsible for one of these roles: overall production (automation, sound effects, mixing etc.), melodic/harmonic elements and rhythmic/beat/percussive elements 
3. All within the group are responsible for finding the inspiration for the music and reflecting this in their portion of the music and well as the structure of the music & how this develops.
4. Identify an inspiration for the music.
5. The composition should be between 2-3 minutes and show development of inspired ideas, have a clear structure, a combination of loops, synth input notes and live instruments/sounds.
6. The composition must use automation and effects creatively and can you may have vocals, instruments or mix. 

*** Roles in the group:

1. Melodic/harmonic elements
   1. Loops (at least 6 tracks) 
   2. Synth input notes (at least one track)
   3. Real instruments recorded via a microphone (at least one track)
2. Beat/percussive elements 
   1. Loops (at least 4 tracks) 
   2. Beat maker track (at least one track)
   3. Real instruments recorded via a microphone (at least one track)
3. Producer + sound effects 
   1. Automate (volume, pan, sweep)
   2. Apply effects to tracks as desired
