Creating Community through Music

Music has the magical ability to connect people from different backgrounds, age groups, interests, experiences, and more. In fact, we’ve seen this very idea come to life throughout our education community during the shift to distance learning. And there is no better time than Teacher Appreciation Week to celebrate the magic created within our community!

Check out these three amazing music projects completed by students and teachers remotely using our online, collaborative studio:

Gorham Middle School Surprises Students

After Tracy Williamson’s choir students virtually recorded their cover of  “Home” by Phillip Phillips into our online studio, the Gorham Middle School staff came together to send their well wishes to students and families. Tracy put together the video and cover song to surprise students at home:

Champlain Valley Union Staff Creates Music Video “We Are CVU”

Teachers at Champlain Valley Union put together a music video to showcase their transition to distance learning, including online advisory, videoconferencing for virtual classes and more. The video, titled “We Are CVU,” celebrates the community of the school and continued dedication from educators and school staff to support students and families at home. The song was recorded in our online studio using the collaborative features to incorporate a variety of instruments being played from across the country:

Mid-Pacific Virtual Band Performance

The Mid-Pacific Music school band came together to record Takarajima (宝島, lit. Treasure Island), a popular Japanese song written by Hirotaka Izumi, for a class project during distance learning. Together, over 25 students playing a variety of instruments, including the keyboard, trumpets, flute and more, recorded their parts virtually and combined them to create the final song. The senior class was featured during a special shout out during the video as a way to show support for the graduating Class of 2020:
